[sudo-discuss] irc exclusion

i guess i can't participate in IRC anymore because i can't figure out how to
configure SSL on irssi

when i try to join sudoroom it says:
20:16 !wilhelm.freenode.net Only users using SSL could join this channel!

so i googled SSL irssi and it says:

/network add -sasl_username <login> -sasl_password <password> -sasl_mechanism PLAIN freenode
/server add -auto -net freenode -ssl -ssl_verify chat.freenode.net 6697
/save

i'm guessing <login> and <password> are something that i have to type there but
I don't know what they are or how to find them.  So i can't be in IRC until i
figure that out.

as if IRC wasn't already exclusionary enough?
