Hi,

I wanted to let folks know that we have an exciting developer opportunity
for someone interested in web archiving, specifically enabling users to
archive and own the content.

I am the creator of a project called Webrecorder, (https://webrecorder.io/)
an open source tool designed to allow anyone to create a high-fidelity web
archive of any content, directly and interactively.

The project is part of Rhizome (https://rhizome.org), a non-profit
institution dedicated to promoting and preserving internet based art and
media.

Rhizome is based in NY, and I live in SF.
We are looking for candidates ideally in either the Bay area or NY, but
remote candidates are also welcome.

While we'll be offering a hosted version on webrecorder.io, it is equally
important to make it easy for users to install and run Webrecorder on their
own platform. (Think wordpress for webarchiving, maybe)

The idea is to empower users to create their own web archives!

The full system can already be deployed following instructions at:
https://github.com/webrecorder/webrecorder

We have recently received a generous grant (
http://rhizome.org/editorial/2016/jan/04/webrecorder-mellon/) to support
this work, and are now looking for a talented and dedicated developer to
work with me and the rest of the team on all aspects of Webrecorder.

Here is the official job ad:
https://webrecorder.io/static/__shared/jobs/developer.pdf

About me: I have been working in the field of web archiving for several
years. My other recent project has been oldweb.today, a system for browsing
old web sites in old emulated browsers, also in collaboration with Rhizome.

If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to me directly
off-list.

To apply, please send an email with your resume to:
webrecorderjobs at rhizome.org

Candidates from groups generally under-represented in the tech field are
especially encouraged to apply!

Thank you,
Ilya
