[Artmurmur] Friday the 5th

I don't consider the Oakland Art Murmur to be dangerous at all. If
anything, the greatest danger would not be gunshots but getting hit by an
automobile. There are a lot of drunk pedestrians as well, but it is not
dangerous.

I don't personally enjoy large festivals / parades / affairs with thousands
of people--they are fun but you are not going to attract people who are
seriously interested in art. The crowds are also so large that it's very
challenging to get a look at any art. There's a slight possibility of
interacting with the artist, but the Murmur currently serves as a backdrop
for a large social event.

I am not very interested in organizing any First Friday events for
SudoRoom--I'm focusing on creating right now, and on my own projects, and
these kinds of one-off Public Relations and marketing affairs don't offer
me any fulfilling experiences with meaningful long-lasting relationships
and collaborations.

The crowds that are attracted to these First Friday events also tend to
bring lots of alcohol, leave a huge mess, and the groups that are involved
are usually resistant to hiring someone to clean. They also tend to do a
poor job of cleaning up after themselves so you will be dealing witha
large mess.

If you are interested in promoting artwork and attracting people who are
serious about art, then I highly recommend the Saturday Strolls.
