I'll be in on Wednesday if you guys are.

Would anyone else be willing to run the meeting though?

Just say, "Hi, we're starting! Will someone take notes?" then I'll offer to take notes if no one else does, and say, "Alright, what do people want to put on the agenda?" And I'll write those things down. Then go through each and finish with show & tell. Or don't, I'm not your supervisor.

Sounds great! I also put in an order for some linux-themed stickers that should be here by mid-August, so we'll be well prepped.

The laser cutter can cut thin materials very quickly. Like just a few minutes for just a skin cut out for 1 computer (assuming no fancy internal cut patterns - that adds time).

We just need to prep by finding good materials (some can emit toxic fumes when cut) and making a template design file. The software is fairly easy to learn. You can either design vectors in the laser cutting software, or import vectors you made in another program or found on the internet. you can engrave normal image files too but that takes a lot of tuning and probably won't work with stuff we are doing (and emits a lot more fumes). I can show you Wednesday if you like. I will only be in on Tuesday after 7.

I should be around on Wednesday. I could try stopping in briefly on Tuesday, maybe around 5:30, but I wouldn't be able to stay long.

I like the idea of making our own laptop skins. Does it take long? If it's fairly easy to learn, we might be able to teach people at the event how to do it.

Are you going to be around tuesday? Or I could come in Wed to talk to you about it. I ordered some PVC free (laser safe) vinyl with adhesive so we can try making some laptop skins and custom stickers. Dont think painting right on the laptop is a good idea but interested to hear what youve been thinking. Its one thing if the computer owner is painting it, but another thing if we are just painting all of them/ a big chunk of them. Im happy to help with laser cutter whenever this event happens.

And ok, only using dell Latitudes for this first event sounds good to me.

How many of us can make it to the August meeting? I'm just wondering if it's alright to start moving forward with promoting this event, or if we need to pause until we have a stronger consensus. I have a basic flyer ready to go, and Silver has asked if it's okay to share it on Omni's social media.
