63/37 is great to work with! My fave, but 60/40 works well too.

I’ll ask the folks at the radio museum; they might have a spare roll of 60/40.

For what it's worth, my favorite solder is also:  63/37 (Pb/Sn) rosin core 0.02" diameter.  60/40 is also nice.  But, after years of searching, I found a lead-free solder which both works well, and which has fumes that don't hurt my (very sensitive lungs):
Chip Quik WW100Ge.020 1LB
This is available at both Mouser.com and Digikey.com .

Its composition:  Sn/Cu0.7/Ni0.05/Ge0.006  (called "Germanium doped").

I still like solder with lead more, but, this germanium doped solder is quite good!

Cheers,
Mitch

lead free solder sucks!  and we are pretty low on non-lead-free solder.

If anyone has extra rolls of regular lead solder (often labeled "rosin core" or Pb 63) and you want to store it at sudoroom, it will help.

people new to solder often get frustrated when they don't realize they're trying to use lead-free solder, which sucks.  Also the flux is toxic compared to the literal pine sap that's in regular solder.
