Hey everyone!
Here's the summary of last Wednesday's Sudo Room meeting:
Membership:
We're gaining members at a rate of around 1 per month.
Finances:
We're bringing in $2k of our $2500/mo goal. We've had some success with grant submissions, but could use more volunteers helping write grants.
Facilities:
Our messiness remains our most intractable problem. We have a problem with people anonymously dumping bulky E-waste off. It's still difficult to dispose of waste. And not everyone is consistently leaving the space how they found it when they arrived, especially after big events like Hardware Hacking Tuesday. All of these are known issues, but hard to resolve because we don't currently have any particular solutions that can get consensus.
Comms:
A lot of people aren't aware that we have a Discord server and an IRC, so join those if you like. We'd still like someone to send out a monthly newsletter or a weekly summary of what's going on, but we need at least one volunteer for that.
Events:
I held some table top games last month, and will hold some more this month. We've got stuff reliably happening on Mon, Tues, Weds, and Thurs (see the https://sudoroom.org/calendar for deets), though we'd love more new events.
Action items for June:
- The membership working group will try to consistently prepare a membership update for next month's meeting.
- It would be great if someone would propose a set of policies to address the mess and build consensus before the July meeting.
- It'd be great if someone else wanted to run meetings.
