Monkeybrains will be less than half the price of what we're paying now, we're getting a special deal. Also we can expect a gigabit connection, although we won't know for sure until installation tomorrow.
You're right that we were in talks with the neighbors about getting a point-to-point and sharing a fiber connection to EBDCR (I was emailing with them directly) but fortunately we didn't move forward with that, because this is much better. I just didn't realize until last week that Monkeybrains had expanded their coverage zone to include Omni Commons.
About Long Haul, there's no way we could beam a signal a mile up Shattuck just because of simple physics, but of course we're aligned politically. Thankfully, so is Monkeybrains which would likely provide them with great service if their building is in their coverage zone. Also I understand that Long Haul is in the process of having to find another place while their land trust renovates the property (after which they're invited back) but I don't know the details.
As for Monkeybrain's policy around resharing, you're welcome to look into it but it's at least as liberal as LMI, probably better in a lot of ways. Sorry the conversation hasn't been more public, but I have reported to the list as much as I could and you're invited to come to the installation tomorrow (tuesday) at 2PM on the roof of omni.
