This is embarrassing enough to continue writing in public, so I hope this is the last email about this issue.

Just to clarify to those that don't know the details:

For me, this incident was not as black and white as Jake describes it on this list ("Basically if you get an email from someone from this list, but it's not the email address that they normally use, and they're asking for money and refusing to confirm their identity...it could be a scam.") since I myself, and another sudoer I know we use two email addresses connected to this email list, so this alone, at least in my mind, it was not a red flag that it should have been.

Anyway, I hope that by exposing that bad actor's email address (rcsheets@picote.ch) it may help the rest of us to be alert, and not fall for it.
