This individual will report to the Executive Director and work with GC Program Director to support STEM projects that benefit teachers and students in San Mateo County. *Application Deadline:* Open until filled *Position: *GeneConnection Program Manager *Appointment:* up to 50% FTE (20 hours per week; including some evenings and weekends) *Starting Date:* ASAP (Starting date and term of appointment are negotiable) *Work Location(s):* Peninsula High School, San Bruno, CA, Various San Mateo County high schools & community colleges, BABEC Office South San Francisco *Position Overview* BABEC is accepting applications from well-qualified individuals. The GeneConnection Program Manager is an energetic, results-orientated, collaborative professional, who excels while working on multiple projects, can effectively manage critical timelines, and is passionate about science education. We seek an effective communicator with an astute knowledge of how to work with a wide range of individuals in educational, academic and scientific fields. The ideal candidate has experience in front of high school students and collaborating with high school teachers in either a public or private education setting. Under the direction of the GeneConnection Program Director, the Program Manager will share responsibility for maintaining the program’s portable science laboratories. This will include restocking, refurbishing, repairing and preparing laboratory equipment, reagents and supplies. In addition, s/he will contribute to maintaining a comprehensive scheduling and inventory system, procure needed supplies, and manage the GeneConnection laboratory in an efficient and cost-effective manner. S/he will be able to trouble-shoot unexpected lab results and equipment problems, when consulted. The Program Manager will assist with coordinating the transfer of portable labs with the Lead Teachers and if needed, will be able to model/team-teach the curricula with new teachers. Providing support and assistance with the equipment set-up and curricula implementation will be required. In general, the Program Manager is expected to work with the GeneConnection Program Director but often will be expected to work relatively independently, applying the highest professional standards to her/his performance of all duties. The Program Manager will share responsibility for mentoring student interns at the GeneConnection Lab facility. S/he will be a compassionate, empathetic individual who understands the myriad challenges that classroom teachers encounter and the potential difficulties that may arise. IT Manager at an environmental/human rights nonprofit

Hi freelance-y folks: I'm leaving my current IT Manager job at a nonprofit to try out web dev, which means I'm looking for a replacement that isn't a terrible person. So I thought of you all! This is an unofficial call for interested parties, hence no listing of the organization (although I'm sure you could find it). I'm addressing the freelance folks because this position (at 3 days) is an ideal way to have most of your week free/have a flexible schedule/but still have the stable income and benefits that you need to survive. The job is partially help desk for a small staff in Berkeley, but most of it is creating IT infrastructure and policy for all of our offices (we have offices in 6 different countries). You're the one "technology" person, so that means you're the de facto sysadmin, network admin, infosec expert, desktop support, etc. I'm more interested in your troubleshooting skills and self-agency than your slick resume. POC, trans/genderqueer, and women encouraged to apply! If you're interested please email me directly and I'll give you more info about the job. We're looking to get someone in the office for 9 weeks while I go to a developer bootcamp, and then return as an actual staff member 2-5 months after that. It's possible that we'll be hiring two different people for these two segments, but ideally we'd be able to hire just one.
