SUDOradio feild trip!!
I
have an idea : let's get our calendars together and schedule a group
feild trip to KALX studios !
I did one of their orientations back in 2003 when I lived in san francisco
but wasnt able to make the commute to berkeley that often so i declined the
program.

Hi all,
Thanks Troy, definitely come and check out the studio to take measurements
for a rack.
I'd be happy to show you (and anyone else who is interested) how to use the
studio to broadcast live to radio.sudoroom.org at any time! Definitely need
to schedule group trainings sometime soon. (This is also relevant because
we've been talking about scheduling oral histories - which we still need to
do!)
All of this reminds me that anyone from the Oakland Wiki community who
wants to learn how to …
[View More]broadcast live (read Oak Wiki entries, hint hint?),
just let me know and I'd be happy to show you how (we can even do this
during or before one of the Thursday meetings if there's enough interest).

hi all,
radio room is clean, spiffy, and ready to use. for real this time.
i am ready to help any of you or small groups of you (however many will fit
in the studio) learn how to share audio on the livestream.
i've also written some documentation that should ideally help anyone get
started livestreaming on their own and provide them with detailed
instructions for troubleshooting the most common problems encountered:
https://sudoroom.org/wiki/Sudo_Radio
next step is to keep doing trainings …
[View More]until all of you are happy with your
competence levels and to start scheduling shows. we're currently using this
sadly neglected spreadsheet to do show scheduling (
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApmrUsz7z5DodDVaZnJ4TW1ndC1jd1…)
but alternative scheduling ideas are welcome.

ps - you may have noticed that i have only spoken about livestreaming thus
far and have not mentioned recording or producing. this is because for now,
we've had more interest in livestreaming than in doing audio production, so
i've been focusing on getting that ready for people to use, but the next
step is production...and anyway, audacity (audio recording and production
software) is installed on the studio computer, so you are welcome to futz
with it to your heart's content.
pps - the documentation needs a bunch of images and formatting cleanup. i
am working on this.

we have someone scheduled to come in to record an oral history for oakland
wiki at sudo next saturday afternoon, and i was thinking we can do a "today
i learned" session (https://sudoroom.org/wiki/Today_I_Learned) that's just
having people record each other. good way to get oral histories, start
people recording, and get some content for the radio.
is anyone available next saturday around 2 (or anytime next saturday)?
couple of other updates:
i'm not sure whether the radio is currently up, …
[View More]running, needs debugging,
etc. it appears that the studio is being overrun with weeds, so i intend to
do some cleaning there this week.
i also started writing documentation for using and troubleshooting the
radio - note to self to write that shit up!
finally, a few of us from oakland wiki met folks from youth radio and
toured their space. one of their people really likes sudo room and is going
to be bringing some of their youth who are working on coding to sudo. youth
radio has a glorious facility and their own clear channels of sharing any
content they produce, but i still feel like there must be some opportunity
to collaborate...any ideas?

Hey radio folks,
I was planning on coming to the space tonight but I have some work picking
up now, and don't have time to commit to the project:(
Good luck with the station.
