About Sudo Room

Sudo Room is a creative technology community for excellent, do-ocratic, consensus-based collaboration. Participating at Sudo Room can be simple: come and hack on something!

This can be your own project, or someone else project, or Sudo Room itself. Sudo Room is composed of many Groups of people who share interests and resources.

Vision

We believe that by creating welcoming facilities and open infrastructure we will engage a community of curious people interested in topics such as programming, hardware hacking, physics, chemistry, mathematics, security, robotics, art, and technology.

By engaging with this community, we will create collaboration opportunities that can foster and expand innovation and creativity in our community and beyond.

   Our species is young and curious and brave and shows much promise. In the last few millennia we have made the most astonishing and unexpected discoveries about the Cosmos and our place within it, explorations that are exhilarating to consider. They remind us that humans have evolved to wonder, that understanding is a joy, that knowledge is prerequisite to survival. I believe our future depends powerfully on how well we understand this Cosmos in which we float like a mote of dust in the morning sky.

Culture & Values

We strive to be an open, transparent, horizontal and welcoming community, united by our curiosity, where all are supported and free to learn, create, gather, collaborate, work, play and more!

We begin from a point of respect and trust. We believe it builds a safe community and that this best fosters innovation and creation. We have writings on community standards and an anti-harassment policy which covers all conduct in the physical space and in our online spaces.

Mission

Sudo Room’s mission is to:

• Provide accessible, clean work spaces and tools to enable individual or collaborative projects or experimentation related to art, science, and technology
• Facilitate education and idea-sharing by providing and maintaining a space for our members and guests to give talks, host workshops and classes, and to meet and socialize

And most importantly, to foster a community with shared culture and values that leverages these basic building blocks to achieve our vision: expand innovation and creativity in our community and beyond.
