~~it seems the battery is dead.~~ it is now working! It uses a 55Ah 12v VRLA lead-acid battery

the original battery is 9" wide by 8" tall and 5.5" deep, but the battery is laying on its face. So the compartment is 9" x 8" with a cover on top.
