My name is Kevin Hansen, and I am a filmmaker working on a feature documentary about the Commons. Our last feature film was Nicotine Bees (2010) that told the story of why honeybees have been dying around the world (largely because of nicotine pesticides). The Commons film show what the Commons are, and how we've lost them to colonization and privatization - with the Occupy moment as the best example of overflowing frustration with lost Commons. Especially, this is true of the many young people who see a pretty bleak future.

We show people how many Commons are being regained by commoners who say 'we're done waiting' for government and business to get it right, so they set out to form new Commons around land, water, ideas, food, a host of resurgent new ideas.

Many of these ideas bring back the ancient idea that our Commons cannot be taken from us - because they cannot be given away.

We share them with all life.
