PROMPT: There are no wrong answers
Would you like to very briefly introduce yourself?
I'm using a word I just learned -- I don't know if it's cheesey or cliche -- I'm an "artivist". I'm a starving artivist but planning on not starving soon.
- Morgan confirms it's cheesey
- Robb suggests Dragon would disagree!
What brings you to sudo room? To invest in a local artivist community and in my own art and activism, instead of driving to Hacker Lab in Rocklin which I've been doing for the past year.
What do you want to hack or learn at sudo room (if you know)? I'm excited to work on the laser cutter, and to share ideas and collaborate on projects with the Oakland community. One inspiring thing is how savvy and inviting people are about computers and hardware. Also, I didn't quite realize how politically aligned the whole place is!
What do you want to share or teach at sudo room (if you know)? Tips and tricks for using the laser cutter. Conversations about the intersection of social justice and dharma/mindfulness. That's it for now ;)
What's your plan to abolish sexual violence, police brutality and white supremacy? in 10 words or less Joy connection listening empathy creativity courage; applying lessons from history.
What's your plan to end the anthropocene extinction, world hunger, global warming and global inequality? in 10 words or less Keep my mind on the topic in collaboration with others.
What's your plan to ensure freedom and privacy of communication for all? in 10 words or less Socialize and collaborate with computer geeks.
expectations
Sudo Room is part of the omni commons and as such, we take the omni commons statement of solidarity and safer space policy seriously. These policies include expected codes of conduct and the consequences of unacceptable behavior. As a member, you are expected to both act according to the code of conduct and also to be a part of acting to counter unacceptable behavior (we don't let mistreatment slide). Is this going to be a problem for you? No.
Ideally this should include the group going over the statement of solidarity and the expected behavior and consequences of unexpected behavior section of the safer space policy to make sure the person understands what's expected of them.
Have you ever been banned, asked to take a break, or similar, from a hackerspace or any other collective? Never.
What are the best ways to contact you? Email - anthonymaes@gmail.com
What is your schedule like? Do you have particular times that you think you'll be around? You should check out our regular events! It's completely unpredictable.
Explain the next steps in the membership process and what they should expect
You should now. Immediately. Set up an account on sudo humans and set it up to pay the recommended $30 per month membership fee, or more, or sliding scale down to $10 per month.

PROMPT: There are no wrong answers
Would you like to very briefly introduce yourself? Hi, I'm Evan -- I work on programming -- especially audio and signal processing
What brings you to sudo room? I recently quit my programming job and now I just work on creative programming projects to share with the world for free. Unfortunately this means I spend most of my time at my apartment with no one to talk to. I want to join Sudo Room so that I can work on my projects in a place with other people around.
What do you want to hack or learn at sudo room (if you know)? Right now I'm working on http://homophone.me/ which is a useless Elm program that basically makes puns. I'm also teaching myself signal processing for various audio analysis and synthesis type things. My dream is to make sound design as straightforward as editing pictures in photoshop.
What do you want to share or teach at sudo room (if you know)? When I collaborate with other programmers, I naturally take the role of a counselor and a mediator, asking follow-up questions until I understand everyone's point of view and never letting my own preferences get in the way. I have a wide variety of programming experience that I would love to share, but I never give unsolicited help. I never get tired of answering questions from self-directed learners who want help with anything from CSS to machine learning. I've been Un-schooled as a kid -- "I like teaching, but not in a 'teachy' way..."
What's your plan to abolish sexual violence, police brutality and white supremacy? in 10 words or less I generally don't claim to have answers to things I'm not qualified to answer!
What's your plan to end the anthropocene extinction, world hunger, global warming and global inequality? in 10 words or less I never talk in terms of how the world should be -- but think about what is in my immediate power to do. People can talk as if they can control the actions of other people, and I don't think or talk in those terms. I just do the best I can.
What's your plan to ensure freedom and privacy of communication for all? in 10 words or less I don't have a plan, that has not been one of my primary goals to be honest. I have conversations with everyone on facebook and I try not to think about who's watching.
