1. Start by showing up to a weekly event on the [https://sudoroom.org/calendar/ calendar]. See also: [[Directions]] to the space
1. Introduce yourself! Talk to any member or email [mailto:members@sudoroom.org members@sudoroom.org] to get more info.

2. After spending some time in the space, ask a current member in good standing to nominate you by emailing the [sudo-members] list (it is also encouraged to CC [sudo-discuss]).
2. Show up to an event on the [https://sudoroom.org/calendar/ calendar]. ([[Directions]] to the space.)

* You may also use the [https://sudoroom.org/membership/ Declaration of Intent] form, but the membership process does not start until a nomination/+1 from a current member in good standing
3. Fill out the [https://sudoroom.org/membership/ Declaration of Intent] form, which will be sent to everyone in the [https://sudoroom.org/lists/hyperkitty/list/members@sudoroom.org/ members mailing list] for endorsements and blocks.

3. A "pondering period" of four weeks starts when the first member nominates you. During this time, you should be present in the space and seek two additional nominations from members in good standing. Any member in good standing may block based on interactions in this period.
4. There is a 3 week pondering period for new application. You will be a member if the following conditions are met:
* You have received endorsements from 3 Sudoroom members
* No one raised opposition to your membership and blocks the application
* It has been more than 3 weeks since you submitted the application
* You are paying membership donations.

4. After four weeks, if there are no blocks and 3 nominations, you are a member.
== Membership requirements ==

There are two requirements for becoming a member:

1. Be in good standing with Sudo Room by adhering to our code of conduct.

2. Pay monthly dues reasonable for your means. The standard recommendation is $60, but no one is turned away for lack of resources; work-trade arrangements can also be made for those unable to afford dues, or those who refuse to engage in the monetary system. To make membership donations, you can sign up on our [https://backers.sudoroom.org/ membership portal] to pay via bank cards. If you prefer to pay via cash check or cryptocurrency, there is no automated system set up for that so an arrangement has to be made.

The only requirements for becoming a member are to be in good standing with Sudo Room, and to pay monthly dues, of anywhere between $10 and . We suggest a monthly due of $60, and accept non-monetary contributions, such as delicious snacks brought to our Wednesday night meetings. No one is turned away for lack of resources; work-trade arrangements can also be made for those unable to afford dues, or those who refuse to engage in the monetary system.
