[sudo-discuss] Fwd: From VICE: working on documentary series

People should have an option to NOT be included in the video, so advance
notice of the shoot is important.

Reporters (even if friendly!) are interested in things that have a big
impact or sound bites that people can remember from their shows.

It would be worthwhile to create some sort of guidelines around how to talk
to the reporter.

For example, being careful not to use the word "hacker" near anything that
might be construed to be illegal.  (e.g. "We were hacking the police
scanner frequencies so that we could follow what was going on during the
most recent protest")

Maybe focus on things like the Crypto parties where people learned about
how to protect themselves and use encryption, and the work that Sudo is
doing to make these things more accessible to non-geeks.  In fact, it would
be very ... convenient ... if there was a Crypto party or meetup going on
the day that the reporter is here.

The general public is really uninterested in nuance, especially when it
comes to things that they are afraid of.
