Node troubleshooting

Hi All, So I'm flashing another node just for practice. Things seemed to go fairly smoothly except when I try to plug my new node into my internet connection and connect to it I can connect to the private network ("mesh100" in this case) just fine, but I can't connect to either of the public networks peoplesopen.net 65.20.193 or peoplesopen.net fast 65.20.193 Is there a specific place I should look to diagnose this?
