The oakland internet choice initiative is picking up speed!
> The Oakland Internet Choice Coalition (OICC) is organizing to provide a
legal path requiring landlords of large multi-tenant buildings to allow
*any *qualified Internet service provider to serve their tenants.
Oakland City Council President Rebecca Kaplan is looking for community
support in the next couple of months.
If you live in Oakland, read more about it and send her an email:

I …

support independent ISPs in their fight against the big monopolies.

Subject: [omni-consensus] OMNI NEEDS LEGAL OFFICERS
To: consensus <consensus(a)lists.omnicommons.org>
Please forward to your groups and collectives - Omni Commons is
seeking candidates in our officer election for 3 positions: president,
treasurer and secretary.
At minimum, folks in these positions need to have their names filed
with the California secretary of …
[View More]state and be available to
occasionally sign things.
At best, folks in these positions would join the finance working group
to take an active role in administrative paperwork, writing checks,
paying bills and so forth. An active treasurer would enable us to have
separation of powers between the bookkeeper and the money spender, for
example.
Your primary interactions would probably be with finance wg members -
currently me, Sarah Lockhart, John Torok, and occasionally Silver.
Like all community members, you'd be encouraged (but not required) to
attend delegates meetings on 1st and 3rd Thursdays.
As soon as we get enough interested candidates, we will hold an
election to get delegate approval.
Thanks,
Yar

Hi all,
I've drafted an agenda for the next Sudo Mesh meeting - which will be a
covid/summer hiatus reboot meeting! Juul and I will both be back from
summer family visits by then. It would be great to reboot and figure out
next steps for the org and the project as a whole. Perhaps we could even
meet in-person, ideally outdoors..
This is mostly a template, with my throwing action items on there as
they come up. Please feel welcome to add discussion and other agenda
items here: https://…

The meeting will be at 7:30pm via https://meet.jit.si/sudomesh2020 -
please reply to this thread if you intend to come, and also feel welcome
to host next week's meetup at the same time and place if you have the
spoons (as it's still listed on our website as weekly recurring, and we
may well be missing new folx) :)
Love,
