Interesting article. Working at Cisco in the early 1990's I spent much of
my time and energy working at the boundary of Internet, OSI, and SNA
networks. It was very interesting to see the skill with which IBM tried,
and often succeeded, in manipulating the standards processes to their
advantage.
I think in the conclusion he mixes up several different concepts of
"openess" which are really unrelated. He is confusing open protocols, open
source, and open Internet content all into one ball.
