Author: Andre Wiley
Yusef Andre Lovell Wiley was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, in a Christian household of Mr. Sampson and Betty Wiley of the Imperial Church of Christ. At the age of 13, Andre started associating with gang members. At around age 15 he joined the Bloods in his neighborhood. Andre later became Muslim during his prison term of 16 years to life, taking on the name "Yusef", and it was his transformation that took him away from the destructive lifestyle of the gangs and to a more purposeful, honorable way of living. Andre Wiley or Yusef has now been working for many years to end gang violence through intervention programs and developing outreach classes. After 21 years of incarceration Mr. Wiley was paroled on May 24, 2012. He is the creator and co-founder of the successful TimeList Group that has helped many people turn away from a detrimental lifestyle through its non-faith-based rehabilitation courses. The Timelist Group is now a 501(c)(3) organization that operates both in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles. The experience that Mr. Wiley has from his own youth and from teaching self-help classes to prisoners allows him to share relevant and inspiring real-life anecdotes with young people about the benefits of change. He is a walking example of God’s ability to help turn lives around and many teenagers have commented about how he inspires and motivates them to be better. Mr. Wiley has gained an AA degree in Small Business Management as well as a paralegal degree. He is a proud father who resides with his wife and family in the San Francisco Bay Area.
