last night Lesley and I went to see what was wrong with the front door
computer, because it was not responding on the network. Unfortunately sudobot
did not alert us to the fact, but Lesley noticed.
anyway, perhaps related to the table setup in front of the cafe bench, the
loosely-hanging extension cord duct-taped to the outlet on the east wall, which
powers the network switch near the front door computer, may have come loose. I
plugged it back in but then looked at the beaglebone black and it was totally
dark, powered off, which i've seen before.
why would a beaglebone black turn itself off?
i unplugged the TWO usb cables going into the cylindrical USB power socket
(which takes 12V from the backup battery) and then plugged them back in. This
is necessary since the second USB cord powers the hub and the magnetic stripe
reader won't recognize properly if it's not power-cycled with the beaglebone.
after this everything worked, but i still have no idea why the beaglebone was
off.
also i wish sudobot would tell us when it fails to connect to omnidoor!

I don't understand. You gave them your old card and now you're making

You'll need to swipe it again. It looks like somebody rebooted the
door computer and the error log was erased.
