All,
I've seen several mentions of SDR based mesh here on the list.
Particularly from Marc Juul.
Is there any info on these efforts online somewhere?
I've been recently looking into purchasing 2 hackrf units and would
like to see what you guys have learned in regards to SDR/custom
protocols etc.
Thanks!

Greetings!
I work for a startup, Open Garden, that builds mobile mesh networking
technology (for sharing internet between mobile devices). We've held a
couple of community meetups so far, and this Wednesday we're trying out a
Lightning Talks model!
Come talk about a project you're working on and meet others developing
peer-to-peer technologies and services - or just come enjoy the 'beer
garden' and learn about some cool projects! Free.

I am far away (Globalize node on map near Piedmont) but high up. What rig
is recommended to connect into downtown?
Marc Juul, is this possible? What equipment do you recommend?
On a side note, I bumped into Alex Hagen of Etheric Networks at that EFF
event tonight an he was open to possibly donating bandwidth. I will follow
up and pester him about it.

Hello everyone,
For those of you who may have missed this vid. Here is Matt and Jenny
giving an overview of the SudoMesh/People'sOpen project at a class of
Networking students @SFSU.
Take note of the hight level of interest and engagement in the Q&A portion:

Max and Daniel, maybe we can use this as a starting point for developing a
rudimentary "Mesh track" at SudoMesh
Happy Hacking :)

The following were not discussed this week, but will go on the agenda for
next week:
2. [Postponed] That members don't ever have to show up in person if they
don't want voting rights.
*Brendan proposes to strike this as unnecessary
3. [Postponed] To empower members to deal with problematic non-members,
non-members can be thrown out at any time by a member if that members feel
they are being a problem, _unless_ some other member present in the space
is willing to vouch for the member as a guest. Non-members being asked to
leave must be told that they can further discuss the incident at a
Wednesday meeting or on the mailing list.
*We need to have a policy on this, but should be written in a more
nonviolent manner.
4. [Postponed] Non-members can use the space as much as they want when

there and have to leave when the last member leaves.

Hey meshy folks,
As per our conversation last week, we're DEFINITELY having a networking
class meetup Thursday at 6pm at sudo. This officially means that we're
all accountable. The format can be super relaxed, but I would highly
recommend that people watch at least the first two weeks of lectures and
have tried to do the first two weeks of homeworks. If you're behind,
it's ok, but we should all really try to make an effort. Also, we can
try to remember to be on IRC, so if remote folks want to participate, we
might be able to do it that way.
See you then!
Max

Dear Friends of the Internet:
The Snowden revelations have provided us with disturbing details and
confirmation of some of our worst fears about the NSA and its partners’
spying practices. Indeed, the NSA and its allies in five
English-speaking countries have been building a global surveillance
infrastructure to “master the internet” and spy on the world’s
communications. They are undermining basic encryption standards, the
very backbone of the Internet. They have collected the phone records of
hundreds of millions of people who are not suspected of any crime. They
has swept up the electronic communications of millions of people at home
and abroad indiscriminately, exploiting the digital technologies we use
to connect and inform. They have secretive data sharing agreements
operating outside the rule of law.
But we aren’t going to let the NSA and its five allies ruin the
Internet. Inspired by the memory of Aaron Swartz, fueled by our victory
against SOPA and ACTA, we are joining the DayWeFightBack campaign to
demand an end to mass surveillance at home and abroad.
The SOPA and ACTA protests were successful because we all took part, as
a community. As Aaron Swartz put it, everybody "made themselves the hero
of their own story." We can set a date, but we need all of you, the
users of the Internet, to make it a movement.
When: The Day We Fight Back has been set for February 11th.
Here's how you can join the effort:
1. Send an email to rights(a)eff.org confirming your interest in
participating in this action and receiving updates. Let us know what you
would like to do in your own country so we can send you more information
and amplify your voice.
2. Visit TheDayWeFightBack.org.
3. If you are a citizen of the world, sign the 13 Necessary and
Proportionate Principles here:
https://en.necessaryandproportionate.org/take-action #privacyisaright
4. Use social media tools to announce your participation.
5. Develop memes, tools, websites, and do whatever else you can to
encourage others to participate.
6. Be creative -- plan your own action. Go to the streets. Promote the
Principles. Then, let us know so we can broadcast your efforts.
The current organizers of the international action of the Day We Fight
Back are:
