This is the radical Guide project coordinator, Andrew. I was going to spend some time this week putting together a cool hand poster and a flyer for the Mesh Project. Very stoked!! If anyone wants to collaborate or just fyi that you'll be at sudo room during the day post it on mesh and I will look closely, as I could use a workspace all week, until I find something else..! My days will be climbing, video, meditating, yoga and collaborating with all the actual smart folks like you all! So use my help when you can, and that will make me feel so much better about when I start asking you all! Workshop hacknight

Need cron job to check for cheap routers

woot still sells the cheap WD my net routers every now and again. I realized that the URL for the next batch is predictable. As soon as this URL stops giving a 404 we will be able to buy more: http://computers.woot.com/offers/wd-mynet-n600-2x2-wireless-n-router-56 Is anyone up for writing up an alert system so we can all jump on it and buy another batch? -- marc/juul

Wi-Fi / Mesh at The Village (MLK & 36th, Marcus Garvey park aka Grove Shafter park)

Hello all, I just received a request from the people over at The Village, the encampment/occupation that was set up last week at the park on MLK & 36th. They wanted me to ask if people at the Sudoroom were able to help them get Wi-Fi set up over there. At one of last week's Assemblies Matt Senate suggested that Sudomesh was probably able to provide hardware for setting up an access point. The latest info I have (a few days old) is that Eli's across the street would be willing to share their connection, but I'm still verifying if that case. Would anyone interested to help be willing to either respond here, or preferably via Signal (my number is 510-771-7463). Thanks, I will report back once I know more details. Sierk

Node info gathering

As part of the new node dashboards, we need to gather info from the nodes and pass it to the frontend dashboard app. There were some shell scripts but they weren't very complete and I couldn't find them yesterday, so I sat down to learn awk. Awk is very graceful for parsing data out of text, but I found it cumbersome generating json from the data in its memory. SO I just did it with Go. Go compiles to machine code that will run easily on the routers (unlike js). Also, it will be good for doing other things to build up the data, like pinging endpoints etc. Here is the repo: https://github.com/sudomesh/node-info-go I will be at the meeting tomorrow to talk about how to harvest the rest of the data we need to build a full dashboard. -Jehan

How to set up Wi-Fi or Mesh Network for the City of San Bruno?
