Today we made four stands for demonstrating mesh mounting. On two of them we mounted a directional nodes to demonstrate an active link. The other two will be used to demonstrate how to assemble and mount a node. Thanks to Eve, Andrew, jefdaj and Jenny for coming by and hacking on mesh stuff! I just finished repairing our two donated defective netbooks and setting them up with lubuntu. We can use these to demonstrate the active link at the workshop! -- marc/juul

Mesh workshop date changed!

The Omni event schedulers had and event that somehow hadn't made it onto the calendar which conflicts with our original workshop date. The new date is *Saturday 18th of March from 1 to 4 pm*. ISP check

I talked to Monkeybrains and Comcast today. Monkeybrains are coming to West Oakland in a couple of months and I told them about the Omni and that we could maybe come to an agreement if they want to put in fiber and service the neighboring apartment buildings. They noted it down but seemed only slightly interested and said to check back in two months. Comcast claims to have a 2 gigabit connection available at the Omni building. Need cron job to check for cheap routers

woot still sells the cheap WD my net routers every now and again. I realized that the URL for the next batch is predictable. Node info gathering

As part of the new node dashboards, we need to gather info from the nodes and pass it to the frontend dashboard app. There were some shell scripts but they weren't very complete and I couldn't find them yesterday, so I sat down to learn awk. Awk is very graceful for parsing data out of text, but I found it cumbersome generating json from the data in its memory. SO I just did it with Go. How to set up Wi-Fi or Mesh Network for the City of San Bruno?
