Hi Team,
The mesh brochure is all finished up. All of the files are uploaded here:
https://counterculturelabs.org/owncloud/index.php/apps/files/?dir=/Mesh%20B…
It includes:
- printable PDF (print double sided and fold it in thirds for best
results)
- SVG files for each graphic in the brochure, for making videos, etc.
- Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop files if anyone wants to edit the
original
I just requested a Wiki account. Will update with new content as soon as
the account is approved.
There are also a dozen brochures printed out in the sticker bin.
Onward!
I have tried 3 times to unsubscribe and followed the directions but it
doesn't work. Please unsubscribe me from the list

Hello Sudoers-Meshers:
We are having Omni work parties for the last three Saturdays, and we have
postpone the wiring run from the point of entry to the Server area, only
because we don't have the cable. This line brings the phone+Internet to the
omni itself.
Guestimating the run is about 70' long.
But, if we can get a box of 500' or 1000' would be awesome, so that the
rest can be used by the Sudomesh projects as well.
Can someone help us out? If we get it by Saturday, I volunteer myself to do
this job on Saturday as part of the work party.
Many thanks in advance,
Daniel

Just wanted to announce that my new home in west oakland, a collective
house with six inhabitants, is now the first house to receive 100% of its
internet connectivity through the People's Open Network!
This was accomplished using the sudo mesh 0.2 firmware which is currently
in alpha testing!
Thanks to everyone who participated, especially Pete Forsyth for being node
0 in this 0.2 mesh and for being so patient during extended debugging
sessions!

Subject: [Battlemesh] Radical Networks Conference NYC - Call for Proposals
To: <battlemesh(a)ml.ninux.org>
Cc:
I would like to announce Radical Networks, a 2-day conference taking
place the weekend of 10/24-25 in NYC at NYU Poly in partnership with
Eyebeam (http://eyebeam.org/)!
Join us for two days of speakers, panels and workshops designed to
introduce the community to DIY networking. The conference will feature
talks and hands-on workshops that will take a critical look at wireless
networks and discuss the future of
alternative DIY networking.
The conference will be organized around the following questions and ideas:
*GOALS*
To understand how the technology can be used as a method of control and
how to subvert that.
Teach people how to use networking technology for themselves.
Encourage creative and social exploration with computer networks.
*IDEALS*
Promoting free and open networks built with free and open hardware and
software.
Decentralizing the control of where networks exist and what and whom are
served by them.
Maintaining control of our own content, hardware, and means of deployment.
Community and free expression first.
*QUESTIONS*
What would you do with your own network?
Why does it matter to understand how networks work?
Why do community networks matter?
How could free, open local networks benefit people?
What can networks be used for other than social networking and
commercial use?
This conference is for the community! Educators, artists, technologist,
students, and anyone interested in learning about how networks work are
invited to attend. http://radicalnetworks.org
If you would like to participate, the call for proposals is open and due
8/10/15, although we will most likely extend this deadline to 8/15.
Please submit if you would like to give a talk, hold a
panel discussion, demo some work, or teach a workshop. For more
information on how to submit, follow this link:
http://radicalnetworks.org/participate/
More information will be posted to the site, including a schedule and
confirmed speakers over the next few weeks.
Thanks!
Sarah

That link doesn't work for me*. I spent half an hour yesterday after the
discussion searching for the electronic public comments form (via
fcc.gov/comments) and ran into a series of 404s. >_<
Looping in sudomesh list in case anyone can help us battlemeshers find a
working public comments form (april?). Also a reminder that the deadline
for comments is August 16th; it would be good to get started on a
collective response asap! Adrian, juul, Pete, did any of you start writing
something or should I start a pad?

I hacked an html5 template and put a landing page up here. feel free to

We had more of a work meeting than a meeting-meeting.
Jehan came by. He's interested in hooking back into the mesh and is going
to make a nice good-looking version of that terrible white-board diagram I
did to showcase how the multiple interfaces in home and extender nodes are
tied together.
Nic came by and we iterated on the pamphlet he's working on.
TechLiminal came by and this happened: https://twitter.com/sudoroom
I started working on an animated diagram for the web UI to show the home

Ryan, myself and others will be interviewing folx, livestream of talks is

* Search YouTube for this username: adjy leak
Ping me if you want me to ask any questions of anyone in particular, though
I know we have pretty solid global representation on this list alone :)
Maximum two per customer.
This is not quite as good as our recommended TP-Link N600 (internal instead
of external antennas) but it's $10 instead of $40 sooo...
Actually if a few people are willing to buy the maximum two per customer
the mesh will buy them from you.

Hi!
>From Battlemesh V8 agenda (http://battlemesh.org/BattleMeshV8/Agenda):
The new FCC rules are in effect in the United States from June 2nd 2015
[1] for WiFi devices such as Access Points. They require to have the
firmware locked down so End-Users can't operate with non-compliant
parameters (channels/frequencies, transmit power, DFS, ...). In
response, WiFi access point vendors start to lock down firmwares to
prevent custom firmwares (such as OpenWRT) to be installed, using code
signing, etc. Since the same type of devices are often sold world wide,
this change does not only affect routers in the US, but also Europe, and
this will also effect wireless communities.
We would like to discuss:
* What are your experiences with recently certified WiFi Hardware
* How can we still keep OpenWRT on these devices
* What can we suggest to Hardware vendors so that they keep their
firmware open for community projects while still compliant with the FCC?

The 3750 is gige.
The 3550 may be 10/100, but you do get to do decent L3 functions +
VLAN stuff on it, so it's not a complete loss.

I stumbled across something on the Net that you may have a bunch of
Meraki Sparky control boards. Any interest in selling a dozen? We have
a bunch of outdoor Meraki Access Points and when lightning strikes,
they no longer function.
Hellos,
*Good News!*We now have a total of 10 new data drops at the second floor
where the computers for the public are.
Four computers are already setup and ready to use. The other six are
already active, so it is matter of bringing more computers to the table and
set them up.
The second one from the left was not booting up, and since I had a bootable
USB with Debian 8 with me; well.. I installed Debian on it. User name: user
Password: user Root's password: user -Feel free to modify that if one wish
or if it required. I just wanted to have it running at least.
I removed all the extra unnecessary and/or unsafe equipment that was there
on that table.
Excuse me that it was brought down to one of the tables at Sudo, but I was
too exhausted that I just wanted to go home.
*ALERTS:*
DNS: At the time that I left the building, 5pm, there were some DNS issues.
DNS was not resolving.
Pinging Google's DNS IP 8.8.8.8 worked, but not when trying the domain
name. The issue seemed intermittent.
BANDWIDTH: Also, I ran a few speed tests and they area about 20Mbps /
1.5Mbps.
Thanks Hassan, Sierk, and Francisco for your help during these three days
of work.
