Just wanted to announce that my new home in west oakland, a collective
house with six inhabitants, is now the first house to receive 100% of its
internet connectivity through the People's Open Network!
This was accomplished using the sudo mesh 0.2 firmware which is currently
in alpha testing!
Thanks to everyone who participated, especially Pete Forsyth for being node
0 in this 0.2 mesh and for being so patient during extended debugging
sessions!

Subject: [Battlemesh] Radical Networks Conference NYC - Call for Proposals
To: <battlemesh(a)ml.ninux.org>
Cc:
I would like to announce Radical Networks, a 2-day conference taking
place the weekend of 10/24-25 in NYC at NYU Poly in partnership with
Eyebeam (http://eyebeam.org/)!
Join us for two days of speakers, panels and workshops designed to
introduce the community to DIY networking. The conference will feature
talks and hands-on workshops that will take a critical look at wireless
networks and discuss the future of
alternative DIY networking.
The conference will be organized around the following questions and ideas:
*GOALS*
To understand how the technology can be used as a method of control and
how to subvert that.
Teach people how to use networking technology for themselves.
Encourage creative and social exploration with computer networks.
*IDEALS*
Promoting free and open networks built with free and open hardware and
software.
Decentralizing the control of where networks exist and what and whom are
served by them.
Maintaining control of our own content, hardware, and means of deployment.
Community and free expression first.
*QUESTIONS*
What would you do with your own network?
Why does it matter to understand how networks work?
Why do community networks matter?
How could free, open local networks benefit people?
What can networks be used for other than social networking and
commercial use?
This conference is for the community! Educators, artists, technologist,
students, and anyone interested in learning about how networks work are
invited to attend. http://radicalnetworks.org
If you would like to participate, the call for proposals is open and due
8/10/15, although we will most likely extend this deadline to 8/15.
Please submit if you would like to give a talk, hold a
panel discussion, demo some work, or teach a workshop. For more
information on how to submit, follow this link:
http://radicalnetworks.org/participate/
More information will be posted to the site, including a schedule and
confirmed speakers over the next few weeks.
Thanks!
Sarah

That link doesn't work for me*. I spent half an hour yesterday after the
discussion searching for the electronic public comments form (via
fcc.gov/comments) and ran into a series of 404s. >_<
Looping in sudomesh list in case anyone can help us battlemeshers find a
working public comments form (april?). Also a reminder that the deadline
for comments is August 16th; it would be good to get started on a
collective response asap! Adrian, juul, Pete, did any of you start writing
something or should I start a pad?

Hi all,
I would really appreciate if you could fill out the following survey,
takes a few minutes only and would provide valuable feedback to a
research paper on how knowledge is transferred.
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QVPYHSB
A prize awaits for everyone who fills it out :)
Kind regards,
Musti

the "m" word.. marketing! One of the coolest projects is SudoMesh. it's
hard to explain it, but once people find out what it is, they love it
I hacked an html5 template and put a landing page up here. feel free to
fork and modify
https://github.com/sudoroom/sudoMesh-Landing-Page
you can push out using the gh-pages branch and see the result here:
