Running a bit late today...
Meanwhile, I set up a wiki page to document the mounting I have in mind
with dimensions, parts list, etc.
Check it out at: https://sudoroom.org/wiki/Rooftop_Dish_Antenna_Mount
And, while I'd like to have a full-on party to celebrate this installation,
it's not really appropriate for the scene around my house. I get the
feeling a lot of folks would like to participate but I think 4 people would
be plenty enough. I am hoping we can get the platform built and staged
enough so that our rooftop work amounts to less than 30 minutes.
Thanks,
Chris.

Our last Thursday of the month meetings are where we invite people to come
learn about our project and spend time explaining everything. The next two
Thursdays fall on thanksgiving and christmas respectively.
How do people feel about moving the next two last thursdays to last
fridays? is anyone going to be able to show up either way?

As we are preparing to install some 5 ghz rooftop nodes, at tonight's
meeting we decided to buy some essentials.
We bought:
* 4x nanobridge m5 routers (two large versions, two small versions)
* 2x nanostation m5 routers
* 3x new batteries for our makita drill and impact driver
* 1000 feet of high quality shielded, UV and rain protected cat5e cable
* 100 shielded rj45 connectors for the cable
Total cost was about $970 including tax and shipping.
After this purchase sudo mesh has a remaining balance of about $2600
We are considering starting a recurring sunday installation day where we
install at least one new node every sunday. More info on this next week. We
still do not have our street-level node firmware finalized but the rooftop
links are much simpler so we are going to start rolling those out very very
soon.

Hi!
EFF is organizing an event this Thursday in support of net neutrality.
Mitar
-------- Forwarded Message --------
From: April Glaser | EFF Activism Team <action(a)eff.org>
Subject: San Francisco: Speak out on net neutrality on Thursday, 11/20
To: Mi Tar <mitar.eff(a)tnode.com>
Dear Digital Rights Defender,
You are invited to join EFF next Thursday, November 20, for a free
public event on the quickly unfolding national debate on net neutrality,
to be hosted at San Francisco City Hall.
The event is “Bay Area Speaks: A People’s Hearing on the Future of the
Internet,” where you are invited to testify at City Hall about why net
neutrality matters to Bay Area communities. Attendees will also receive
an update from the lawyers, policy analysts, and activists who have been
working on the front lines to make sure the FCC takes the right path
forward.
Before the hearing, supporters will rally outside City Hall at 5:30pm
and are encouraged to bring cell phones, laptops, and flashlights for a
cell phone vigil and to hold signs and colorful art to demonstrate
support for Internet freedom. Download this image to display on your
screen at the rally.

What: “Bay Area Speaks: A People's Hearing on the Future of the Internet.”
Who: Former FCC Commissioner Michael Copps; Amy Sonnie, Outreach
Director of the Oakland Public Library; Jay Nath, Chief Innovation
Officer for the City of San Francisco; Corynne McSherry, Director of
Intellectual Property at the Electronic Frontier Foundation; Malkia
Cyril, Executive Director of the Center for Media Justice; Tim Poznar of
Fandor.com; and others.
Date: Thursday, November 20
Time: Rally – 5:30 pm, Hearing – 7 pm
Where: San Francisco City Hall
1 Dr Carlton B Goodlett Place; Room 305
PLEASE RSVP HERE: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/933163
The People’s Hearing comes at a key moment in the debate over net
neutrality. Last Monday, President Barack Obama issued a statement in
support of full, clear net neutrality rules, echoing the demands of the
4 million Americans who have spoken out in favor of the same reforms
throughout the year. The FCC is weighing its options now and is expected
to act as early as December.

It’s time to make sure California voices are heard in the national
discussions. The fight isn’t over yet; come meet us at the front lines.

Hope to see you there,
April Glaser
Activism Team
PS: Can’t make it to the event? We’ll be streaming live starting at 7pm
on Thursday, November 20: www.sfgovtv.org/index.aspx?page=135
