Domain names, social media handles, critical cloud accounts, representation and depiction in online spaces: all these elements contribute to how social change organizations are perceived by the vast majority of the world. But holistic and comprehensive management of organizational digital identity is an under-studied practice area. Rapidly evolving technology categories continually create new categories of institutional vulnerabilities for nonprofit organizations. And too few organizations apply security and sustainability best practices when managing their online identity - from ownership of domains and hosting of web sites, to safeguarding remotely stored data, to managing virtual relationships. This workshop will share and explain in managing organizational online identity, and demonstrate processes, tools and rules of thumb for effectively safeguarding and protecting the virtual side of your nonprofit organization.
