embroidery and open-source part 2

we continue our member’s postings on open source embroidery software and creative sewing!

We continue our post on open source and embroidery software – there is actually more!

Muirén NíSídach brought Seamly2D to our attention. Apparently not only does Seamly 2D pattern making software. “Seamly2D is pattern design software to create scalable, sharable custom-fit patterns using bespoke tailoring, haute couture, and historical pattern drafting techniques. Seamly2D saves time and improves fit by creating patterns as reusable, editable parametric CAD engineering documents.

Unlike other pattern design software, Seamly2D allows designers to have complete control of the patternmaking process. Each Seamly2D pattern can read multi-size tables for boutique sizing and read individual measurement files for custom-fit.”

Check out Seamly2D at its GitHub repo: https://github.com/FashionFreedom/Seamly2D

Have any of you contributed to open source sewing software? It’d be cool for someone to give a talk on any projects, or maybe we could even set up a session on teaching people how to contribute, QA or donate to open source!
