Ferment Change is an annual fundraiser benefiting East Bay food justice organizatons through a series of events and workshops built around fermented foods and drinks. The main event of the series is the Pot-Luck and Culture Swap on November 22 at the Sudo room. There enthusiasts, experts and nubies are all encouraged to bring their hooch, cheese, kombucha, and krauts to share while listening to live music and hearing demonstrations.
The proceeds from this year’s Ferment Change events will benefit Phat Beets Produce, a food justice collective. Phat Beets Produce mission is to connect small farmers of color to urban communities through the creation of clinic based farmers markets, school based farm stands, youth market gardens, incubators farms and community kitchens. They now support two certified, clinic-based farmers’ markets, one youth-led school farm stand and community nutrition hub, and a youth market garden in partnership with a local hospital obesity prevention program. They are a fiscal project of a 501c(3) PUEBLO (People United for a Better Life in Oakland).
Thank you for your support of a just and sustainable local food system in Oakland!
Ferment Change 5th Annual Pot Luck
This is THE celebration of all things fermented! As this is the main event, we ask folks to bring their very best fermented dishes to share. There are brews to quench your thirst and delicious bites to satisfy your appetite. And leave your pie at home, because at our pot luck we have a ferment-off. Food culture gurus take on the task of judging who has the best pickle, kimchi and overall best-in-show.
November 22 / 6 – 9PM / Location: Firehouse Collective / $10 and up
