...or really, 'these past two months in Oakland mesh'... I am now creating a weekly event in my calendar to ensure these get out on a more regular basis.
I'm also going to start reminding people of their action items individually ;)
Announcements:
- As of last week, we've officially launched version 0.1.0 of the mesh firmware, a.k.a. Snow Crash!
- We're currently distributing nodes to developers for a 1-2 month period of testing and debugging :) Please reply to this thread if you've gotten your node running!
- We consensed that it is not allowed for our chair, secretary, treasurer or board of directors to publicly use their titles.
Current Action Items:
- Create postcard flyer for general outreach [Alex]
- Add to and edit our bylaws [everyone!]
- Network topology diagram and documentation [Matt]
- Fake captive portal [Max, Luis]
- Get the code working on the new Atheros chipsets (our 5GHz nodes) [Marc]
- Set up bank account [Jenny]
- Many more things to do! Find them here: https://sudoroom.org/wiki/Mesh/ToDos
Outstanding Questions:
- Investigate ham folks and their equipment - maybe they are getting rid of towers etc
- Investigate becoming a Ubiquiti reseller [What we do know: As router resellers, we'd be responsible for replacing them when they break.]
- Can we keep the same IP yet switch to different access points?
