Some random moments at our last hardware hack night in August, because in the end it is about people coming together physically, in-person to a hackerspace in Oakland, California!
Visit SudoRoom Virtually
Feel free to view these panoramas in virtual reality and beyond on our XR website! This website was created during this particular hardware hack night.
We have a lot of other XR projects coming up as well and have yet to document all the fun things we have been doing with augmented, virtual and webXR reality!
Robot Social Club
We have Robots at SudoRoom! Hello to the Beam robot which is now working. While it was fun having people from outside visit, it was a reminder at how much worse meetups are now that everything is hybrid or online. Remote meetups were a vision in the 1970s hippie utopia to make everything more accessible, but instead they have been abused to give control to folks outside of the space, to distract people from interacting with people face to face, and to cause all sorts of havoc on chat groups and discourage collaboration.
Maybe we can figure out the “right” way to do it someday, but for now in-person meetups rule! And they have given our hackerspace more of a sense that we are in Oakland, and not throwing random LinkedIn profiles or YouTube videos of projects from the suburbs instead of paying attention to how great our physical space is.
Doesn’t quite work for social interaction just yet, but a nice substitute for going to the office.
Sometimes the robots fight!
Face to Face Wins
It’s always first and foremost about the human beings gathering in person.
