Women & Non-Binary Night: AI workshop on a game to protect female refugees

This AI workshop Monday we’ll be working on a game in which female peacekeepers protect female refugees in a simulation

This Monday we’ll be working on a game using open-source artificial intelligence in which female peacekeepers help and protect female refugees. The simulation is based on an academic game made by Columbia University called ReliefSim. Sometimes even very basic things like getting clean water can expose refugee women to robbery, murder and gender-based violence.

Also, we’d like to change the narrative on war and peacekeeping. Women are active participants in the peacekeeping process whether they are in the military or not. Often it’s the mothers, grandmothers and childless women such as nuns and teachers who are key parts of the peacekeeping process around the world, as seen in “South Sudan’s women risk all for peace.”

We’d like to thing that a game like this will also create more empathy and indirectly help refugees around the world.

Come and work real and raw on open source artificial intelligence, hack on hardware projects and just have some fun during our women and non-binary night.
