Does anyone have an exact spec or product to get?
Yeah. For each door we want:
* One of these:

* One of these:

The beagle bone black has six 3.3v serial ports so we don't need a USB
version. See:

You can likely find them cheaper if you buy a lot of 5 or 10.
I recommend buying 10 of each since we'll have no problem selling the
excess in our fridge.
If you want faster shipping you can probably get similar prices on ebay
just search for vendors located in the U.S. Just remember that you want a
3.3 volt arduino clone, and NOT a 5 volt version.
We could also buy some different types of tags:
* Keychain style for 30 cents each:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-5pcs-lot-13-56MHz-RFID-IC-Key-…
* Sticker style for 42 cents each:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/6pcs-Beautiful-NFC-Tag-6-DIfferent-Colors-NF…
Remember that any tags you get should be the NFC type. The NFC types
operate on 13.56 MHz. If they say either NFC or 13.56 then you're good.
I have sent this email to the access mailing list which was set up for
these discussions.
Matt: I have subscribed you to the list.
