Hi Guys,
I can't physically make it tonight. I do apologize profusely. I'll follow
along the meeting minutes with any feedback/developments on my end. I'm
going to try to make the late shift, but can't guarantee.
Sorry for the late notice,
-Luis
Hey meshers!
We're going to have an auxiliary hack meet tomorrow at Sudoroom. The
cryptoparty is happening and we thought we'd seize a bit of the momentum!
We'll be:
- Flashing and configuring routers with the sudomesh firmware and configs
- Giving them out to folks who want to take them home and be testers (w/
suggested donations)
- Hacking on the fake captive portal/splash page
- Hacking on outreach/community development ideas
- Working on our outreach video?
- Doing that thing on the wiki "todo" list that you've been thinking about
for the last few months and you're finally ready to come over and blast
through
So you should definitely be there! The cryptoparty is scheduled for 2-5pm
and it's likely that there will be mesh folks hanging out during that
period.
Mesh the bay!
Max
Awesome! I may be interested on buying one. 8-)

Hi folks!
Join us tomorrow afternoon at Sudo Room for a combined cryptoparty / mesh
node flashing party!
Learn how to encrypt your emails, phone calls, text messages, and online
chats; get support for any issues you've run into; or come share what you
know with someone new to digital security. More info here:
https://sudoroom.org/wiki/Cryptoparty
In the sudo room proper, we'll be flashing routers with the just-completed Sudo
Mesh firmware <https://github.com/sudomesh> (Snow Crash). Bring your own
router (must have 8MB of flash memory and be OpenWRT-compatible) or buy one
at cost from us ($75). Learn more about the project at https://sudomesh.org
Cheers,
Jenny

Sudo Mesh sudomesh.org is interested on cooperative models, and supportive of folks forming them, but not the model that seems intuitive for our development. We are becoming a 501(c)3 nonprofit and launching and contributing to an independent project open to other collaborators that is the network itself: peoplesopen.net
There are other local IT cooperatives. Meet with Electric Embers! Check out NoBawc the Network of Bay Area Worker Cooperatives.

Subject: [Mesh] IT cooperative!

Hi all!
Mitar from the PeerLibrary dev group pointed me towards the mesh group- saying that you guys have been discussing some some of the details of what an IT coop might look like.
I was hoping to get some info about this!
A group of people coming out of the Berkeley Student Coops (myself included) are in the process of starting an IT cooperative.
We have been connecting with many groups around the bay to figure out a model and we have been meaning to reach out to the mesh group for a while!
That being said, is there a scheduled time to have a conversation about this effort?
Thanks for any info :)
Best,
Derek

If others want to spend some time tonight talking through what a
cooperatively owned ISP could look like, I'd love to be a part of that
discussion. Some folks from Mondragon's University just held an event on
cooperatives on Tuesday in SF and I talked with Ricardo from SELC a little
bit about IT cooperatives. If we try and get a picture of how a cooperative
might operate within and in partnership with the mesh tonight, I'd be happy
to stop by the SELC legal cafe next week and get answers on whatever
questions we come up with.

Hey team,
I'm going to be a bit late to the meeting tonight. That being said, I'm
planning to stay until I get the fake captive portal set up. No matter
how long it takes me....
See you all soon!
Max
- Also I won't be at any networking class study group meetup if one were
to occur :-/
If anyone is interested in writing an application, the Berkeley Student
Cooperative has announced a $10,000 cooperative development grant for
cooperative projects that serve students or underserved members of
low-income communities within the SF Bay Area
https://sites.google.com/a/bsc.coop/eacom/co-op-development-fund
Applications are due 11:59 pm, Sunday March 9th.
I am still interested in starting an extension to the mesh in Berkeley
starting within the co-ops. This might be a nice way to get the central
management on board, too and bring a bit more funding for hefty backbone
equipment / more nodes.
Lemme know if you all have questions. Still have a PicoStation sitting
around waiting for mesh firmware to be loaded on!
