before we send them in to acquire our bank account:

Some key points:
* We must give written notice for any board meetings at least 10 days in
advance
* Board members may vote by proxy through electronic communications
* Any officer may resign at any time by providing written notice to the
Board.
* Board members shall be chosen annually, we confirm as of March 1. So new
Board members must be decided upon before 1 March 2015. Our current Board:
MaxB, ChrisJ, Marc, Jenny, Matt, Jeremy, Luis, Jake, Lilia
Our directors are currently me (Jenny) as president, Marc (juul) as
secretary, and Matt as treasurer.
We also need to create an annual report, which is the bulk of the work of
Board members/directors. I didn't go over this part very closely, so let me
know if something looks overly complicated:
==15.1. Annual Report==
The board shall cause an annual report to be sent to the members and
directors within 120 days after the end of the corporation's fiscal year.
That report shall contain the following information, in appropriate detail:
:(a) The assets and liabilities, including the trust funds, of the
corporation as of the end of the fiscal year;
:(b) The principal changes in assets and liabilities, including trust funds;
:(c) The corporation's revenue or receipts, both unrestricted and
restricted to particular purposes;
:(d) The corporation's expenses or disbursements for both general and
restricted purposes;
:(e) Any information required by Section 14.1.c. of these bylaws; and
:(f) An independent accountants' report or, if none, the certificate of an
authorized officer of the corporation that such statements were prepared
without audit from the corporation's books and records.
This requirement of an annual report shall not apply if the corporation
receives less than $25,000 in gross receipts during the fiscal year,
provided, however, that the information specified above for inclusion in an
annual report must be furnished annually to all directors and to any member
who requests it in writing. If the board approves, the corporation may send
the report and any accompanying material sent pursuant to this section by
electronic transmission.
==15.2. Annual Statement of Certain Transactions and Indemnifications==
As part of the annual report to all members, or as a separate document if
no annual report is issued, the corporation shall, within 120 days after
the end of the corporation's fiscal year, annually prepare and mail,
deliver, or send by electronic transmission to each member and furnish to
each director a statement of any transaction or indemnification of the
following kind:
:(a) Any transaction
::(i) in which the corporation, or its parent or subsidiary, was a party,
::(ii) in which an "interested person" had a direct or indirect material
financial interest, and
::(iii) which involved more than $50,000 or was one of several transactions
with the same interested person involving, in the aggregate, more than
$50,000. For this purpose, an "interested person" is either
:::(1) any director or officer of the corporation, its parent or subsidiary
(but mere common directorship shall not be considered such an interest); or
:::(2) any holder of more than 10 percent of the voting power of the
corporation, its parent, or its subsidiary. The statement shall include a
brief description of the transaction, the names of interested persons
involved, their relationship to the corporation, the nature of their
interest in the transaction and, if practicable, the amount of that
interest, provided that if the transaction was with a partnership in which
the interested person is a partner, only the interest of the partnership
need be stated.
:(b) Any indemnifications or advances aggregating more than $10,000 paid
during the fiscal year to any officer or director of the corporation under
Article 11 of these bylaws, unless that indemnification has already been
approved by the members under Corporations Code section 5238(e)(2).

One thing we should focus on in our imminent rollout is supporting the
creation of public terminals and computer labs in community spaces; getting
cohesive neighborhoods on board with sharing their connectivity with each
other; and emphasizing the creation and support of safe public spaces for
accessing and learning about technology (eg libraries, schools,
hackerspaces) over the assumption that the technology will enable access
(much in the way we emphasize end-user security and cryptoparties over the
assumption that the network is secure in and of itself).

wlan slovenija is participating in Google Summer of Code this year as
well. Under the umbrella of Freifunk network.

Google Summer of Code is a Google-sponsored program where Google
stipends students working for a summer job on an open source projects
from all around the world. Student is paid $5000 (and a t-shirt!) for
approximately two months of work/contribution to the project. Student
should submit a proposal of his idea of contribution, for which some
suggested ideas can be used as a basis.

Hi everyone,
It’s Alex Merenkov from last Thursday’s meeting. I’m one of the two graphic designers that came to the meeting last Thursday and I’ve been working on a postcard to promote the mesh network.
Today i have created a rough draft and wanted to get everyones input on the copy and also the design layout.
The design layout i choose similarly fallows the design of whoever made the website for https://peoplesopen.net/
As such i used the same color from the Nav bar on the website and a picture of the bay area that i used a Tilt-shift effect on much like the photo on the website of lake Merritt. I added a QR code which directs to the website itself and stuck that in the corner. I wasn’t sure exactly what to put in as far as copy goes so i mostly copied and pasted what was on the mesh website that describes the meetings. I would love to hear any suggestions as far as text goes and also what everyone thinks of the aesthetics. For the font i used RoadGeek 2005 which is the same font used in all of the Oakland Street signs it is easy to read and not obnoxious like the font the city of Berkeley loves to used called Alan Cairns so i thought it worked nicely but we can do any font you guys think is best.

Hello Sudo Mesh,
I moved into a new house and the connection in my room is very weak. They
discussed that we could purchase a wireless repeater. What would be a good
piece of hardware that could act as a wirless repeater and as a sudomesh
device? If they aren't interested in replacing their crappy cablemodem-AP,
what's the right setup here? Two sudo mesh nodes, one wired into the
cablemodem, and another closer to my bedroom that's part of the mesh?

Hi everyone. Was curious about what software services might have been
looked at that are local network based but can also collaborate across the
Internet. Im not exactly sure that working stable software like this exists.
Reason for bringing it up is that I want to have a node at the house but I
dont have any services to offer and I cant really spare much Internet
throttle.
I want to ask friends to node up but I feel itd be hard to convince them to
be island free Internet portals. Collaborative services would add more
value to them.
I dont really have any services in mind. Just something that doesnt need
the Internet to operate but can collaborate with others through the
Internet. Something for Internect connectivity with direct Internet access.
Am I making any sense?
Sorry I cant make it to Oakland much. I run around town for coffee related
things and have to stay close to my lab. I do want to get interacting with
my neighbors on a node though.

As of last night, we've officially launched version 0.1.0 of the mesh
firmware, a.k.a. Snow Crash.
The plan is to have ~20 people with networking skills run nodes from
their homes for 1-2 months and report any remaining issues. We'll then
fix those bugs and do a wider release of ~60 more nodes.
What's currently working:
1. Sharing limited Internet bandwidth with peoplesopen.net
2. Private access point with no bandwidth limit and mesh access
3. Automatic node meshing with batman-adv
4. Simplified web admin interface that lets node-owners change
bandwidth sharing settings and passwords.
5. Automated configuration of new nodes using easy web interface.
6. Automatic printing of stickers with instructions and default
generated passwords.
To those of you who have already taken nodes home, here are a few notes:
1. sudo mesh has root access to your nodes since we manage updates
per default. If you want to manage your own node and don't want sudo
mesh to have access, you can disable our root access by removing
/etc/dropbear/authorized_keys on your node.
2. Please report any bugs on our github. If you know which
repository the bug pertains to, then go to the issue tracker for that
repository. If you aren't sure, then just add the bug here:

Keep in mind that the nodes have to be configured using the
node-configurator after being flashed with that firmware and that the
firmware only trusts sudomesh SSL certificates. We'll release a less
secure version for developers who just want to play around as soon as
possible. For now you can configure your nodes at sudo room with the
help of one of the core team.

tagged with "sudowrt-0.1.0" so you can get the exact versions used in
the release.
