1. BYOI Office Hours this Sunday, 1-3pm-ish (Seth Carolina)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey folx
Build Your Own Internet Office Hours is this Sunday!
Unless there are any node mounts in the works I propose a
sudopad brainstormathon for the next BYOI Aug.5.....
I'll bring snaxx.
---
** What are BYOI office hours? It serves two purposes:*
*1. A jumping off point for people interested helping with a scheduled
Sunday node mount, but who are not able to attend a Tuesday night meeting
or are not "in the know."*
*2. A friendly time for new people to get oriented to the project or just
ask general questions about networking, the internet, and their service
provider.*
*We may also use the time to hold training sessions on a topic of choice,
conduct outreach to potential node locations, address finances and
purchasing, or tackle any other outstanding issues.*
I just saw this - am on my way to something bcos I hadn’t seen anything
about Sunday in Signal as of this morning.
(Also I just somehow mistakenly left sudomesh-urgent, I think I need to be
Re-added unless this group was just for the museum trip)
Hey!
More Build Your Own Internet Office Hours* this Sunday per usual.
During the Tuesday meeting, it sounded like there were several leads on
places that are ready for a mount, so it's likely a group will go out to
install a node! Details TBD.
There's also an FAQ in the works (see https://peoplesopen.net/pad/p/faq) --
maybe we'll have enough time to polish that off and make it live.
And lots of event planning to be a part of... 🐩
Hope to see you there!

Hello--
The next Build Your Own Internet Office Hours* will be this Sunday from
1-3pm at SudoRoom.
Thanks to the hard work of many talented people, *we submitted our second
round Mozilla WINS Round II application!* *Woohoo!*
Part of that effort involved reviewing, cleaning out, and updating the
sudomesh.org wiki. Other folks have recently been involved with creating
process around our bug tracking and software goals.
And that is why the theme this Sunday is: *<< PROJECT ERGONOMICS >>*
But, as usual, anything goes :)
Come on by!
--Benny
p.s. I am not aware of any node mounts scheduled for this Sunday, though
several are in the works. Check the rocketchat for updates:
peoplesopen.net/chat.

Hi All,
The Program on Liberation Technologies at Stanford University (LT)
<http://cddrl.fsi.stanford.edu/libtech> has been going strong since circa
2006. Since then, LT has helped thousands design, use, and research
technologies that foster the public good.
Recently, the decision was made to spin off LT as an independent entity.
I'm one of the people tasked with doing so. Here are LT's major needs:
- Recruit people to develop a new website, logo, and graphics.
- Identify a legal jurisdiction with strong security and privacy laws
and regulations and a server provider with a stellar reputation at
protecting user security and privacy to host the site.
- Determine whether to maintain LT's mailing lists on Mailman
<https://mailman.stanford.edu/mailman/listinfo/liberationtech> or to
transition them to a content management system (e.g., Discourse.org).
- Assess the best legal structure for LT (e.g., digital cooperative).
Any ideas? Thanks for your help and advice.
Best,
Yosem
P.S. I'm sending this email on behalf LT's co-founders and not Stanford
University.
