Community Gathering

Unity! As one stand together!

As you know, SudoRoom and other cooperatives at the OmniCommons were on the brink of disaster – losing the building, getting evicted, and surrendering our community space to something undoubtedly much shinier, cleaner and of course way more expensive and profitable.

We were rescued by EBPREC who acquire housing and community spaces around the Bay Area and work to create a fiscally responsible platform in which all can benefit.

The best thing about the OmniCommons and SudoRoom is that everything that happens is possible because of YOU. You are party of the small group of good people who can do good things for the world. Don’t let the despair get you down!

Remaining soulful yet fiscally responsible for the future!

A shot of our gathering in the ballroom between multiple community groups, tech hackerspaces and non-profits serving the community. SudoRoom shares the Omni commons with Food Not Bombs which distributes donated food to the needy, the Free Store, a dance party collective (gotta get their names), a biohacking lab CounterCulture Hackerspace, and… man I forget the list. Someone put it up here.

Some brainstorming ideas that (are very likely real):

  • Summer workshops on Design for Manufacturing with our CNC machines and 3D printers
  • Artificial Intelligence Persian Tea Talk with open source model downloads of LLMs and more
  • Closer collaboration between SudoRoom and the Counterculture Labs around stuff like building specialized lab equipment and learning biohacking LLMs
  • Music workshops to learn how to DJ, compose music, and make your own machines
  • ”Field Trips” from SudoRoom hackerspace and other collectives to the local Museums (who are currently in DANGER! Of being starved of crucial funding on both the city, state and local level) – the Exploratorium, the Oakland Museum of California, Berkeley museum , the Asian Art Museum, the SF Moma, Legion of Honor, De Young, and more! … and then following up the fields trips with creative art making sessions and symposiums
  • Language learning workshops and calligraphy sessions in Chinese and Dravidian languages and cultures
  • Further support and cross-creativity with other Oakland art spaces such as the RPS Collective and more!
