Over the course of several bi-weekly data workshops, we will be looking at several sources of biological data – Genome sequences, proteomics, RNA expression data. The group has done a great job so far in being balanced between folks with strong biology and programming background.
Our immediate open sourced project will to be to help make some basic biological parts for the Glowing Plant project.
While the class is free, there may be a materials charge for those who want to fully participate and help actually create the parts. (a round estimate is about $100 per participant). A final goal for this project will be to try to publish the work in a paper.. Participants who make a substantial collaborative contribution to the project and help fund the parts would be offered authorship or acknowledgement.
