There was a resounding desire following the 2011 National Food Justice Conference to hold a true and inclusive People’s Food Justice Summit of, for, and by the People. CFJC has been preparing for the Summit with our year-long call to action of Taking Back Our Food System (TBOFS), which authentically engages community and holds monthly events around the Bay Area. 
CFJC is committed to ensuring this year’s Summit will focus on representation and engagement of all communities, especially those historically underserved, and we encourage all individuals and organizations to share their stories, voices, leadership, and wisdom.
The focus of the Summit is to provide a safe space to have honest discussion and collaboration to advance the common goal of having a just and equitable food system amongst the turmoil this election year will bring. CFJC has reached out to several food justice organizations and community members throughout the bay and across the country who are participating in the planning of the Summit. We are all dedicated to incorporating youth into the Summit by collaborating with youth food justice groups and having youth take the lead on many aspects of the Summit. CFJC is dedicated to financially and otherwise supporting all interested parties to be involved in the Summit.
