Happy June 2025 folks! There’s so much going on in Oakland and San Francisco, but our big favorites are Juneteenth and Pride. We’ll fill this newsletter as it comes, and also try to think of ways we can insert some humanity and joy into the current massive AI boom happening in San Francisco.

Oakland Celebrates Juneteenth
Oakland will be celebrating Juneteenth (for example the June 19th celebration at the Oakland Museum of California). Any ideas on how we can contribute? We do know that if it weren’t for the Oakland-founded Black Panthers and their innovation, we wouldn’t have Asian American consciousness and politicians like we do now. We wouldn’t have each one teach one or free school programs and community based education!
- What innovations have been downplayed or forgotten by organizations like the Black Panthers?
- Innovation is everywhere! Not just in tech and a lot of tech innovations have come from young hip hop kids, especially around beepers and cell phones! We’ll seek to highlight those as well!
