I've been troubleshooting at omni for a while now. The wifi appears to
work for me, as do the main gateway and the door computer, but various
ethernet-connected devices do not work. I don't know why, but I
suspect the problem is one of the switches is either misconfigured or
malfunctioning, or the maze of ethernet got incorrectly rearranged
somehow in yesterday's withdrawal-induced panic.
I didn't set up these switches, or the connections throughout the
building, the cables are not labelled, and I don't know if the
switches are documented. I'm exhausted and frustrated because I
couldn't figure this out in 2 hours, because things weren't labelled,
and because there's so many people in the building who don't seem to
be here for essential work, and/or who aren't wearing masks or wearing
them improperly.
I'm not even enthusiastic about making the public computers or office
computers work again, because I'm not convinced they are essential
enough to encourage people to sit around and put food service workers
at greater risk.
So I'm going home. Sorry all, someone else will have to figure this out.

Hi Yar,
Sorry that you got frustrated with the Switches and WAPs situation.
It's been years since the setup of the HP Switches, and the Wireless Access
Points happened, so I don't recall all the details right now.
But, I do remember that I left a server room log notebook on top of the
server, next to the monitor, describing the work done.
Also, I left a paper sheet taped against the wall detailing the
switch ports that were in use, and where they were coming from.
At that time I remember you had two VLANs, a Private, and a Public one.
I put one HP switch, along with the Ruckus Wireless Controller on the
publick VLAN.
I also recall sending you a Signal message with the switches
log credentials, and additional informacion. I do not have that info
anymore, because I have switched to a newer phone since then.
However, resetting the admin password allows access to the admin console of
the HP switch(s). Clearing the HP Switch Admin Password:
When the switch is running with a paper clip push in the small hole that is
labeled "*CLEAR*", for about 5-10 seconds. It will clear the password, and
should allow admin access. Do NOT push the reset button, it will erase the
whole configuration.
I remember labeling every single switch port for each switch and WAP. The
info includes/included Switches, and WAPSs location, Switches/WAPs
IP addresses, etc.
I know it would be nicer/best to have put that informacion on the Wiki,
that's on me. But, at the time I chose to do that server log notebook just
to be more on the sec side of things. Info just for us, and not for the
public in general.

Thanks so much Daniel, I know you worked hard on this, I'm sure the
problem isn't your setup, just the meatspace equivalent of bitrot. I
will try logging into the switches next time I'm there!
After giving this some thought, and a couple nights sleep, I suspect
the problem is only affecting machines that assign themselves a static
IP in 192.168.42.1/16 or 2001:470:488f:c0de::1/64. If they try
something in 100.64.64.1/22 or 2001:470:488f:f00d::1/64 instead, it
will probably just work.

I kind of recall that I assigned static IPs to the wireless controller, and
all HP switches. -Not sure about the APs, most likely no.
I also remember that the two switches at the four post rack, one is in the
Public VLAN, and the other is in the Private one.
So, your thought of static vs dynamic makes sense as a posible cause of the
issue.
