The vending machine now provides some more feedback after money is put in.
Source code associated with my contribution is here. I haven't documented
the other components of the vending machine.

Based on the implementation details, it appears to me that
the bill acceptor is in fact plugged into one board (Arduino Leonardo)
that is connected by serial to another board (Raspberry Pi). Why is
the former board used at all? That is, why is the bill acceptor not
plugged directly into the latter board?
Hi,
Can someone with capacity briefly walk the building and briefly report back
on roof leak status - appx quantity, location, severity, etc of any leaks?
(Especially in CCL / Sudo?)
Given the current and projected continuing rain over the holidays, I’m
worried there may be leaks that may otherwise go unnoticed.
Best,
David
Bain came by and re-secured the corner door. From what I understand:
- *the small leaf of the corner door (passive leaf) is now temporarily
fixed in place*. *Do not attempt to operate* this leaf (or remove the bolt
fixing it in place) for the time being. This leaf needs a sign on the
inside attesting to being temporarily out of service. I’m not in town, so
if anyone has time to affix such a sign, I’d appreciate it.
- the wider leaf remains operable, it’s hinges were modified & it’s closer
was adjusted. More work needs to be done with this door, but likely this
will not occur until after the new year.
- keycard / keyed access should function properly / not be impacted by the
fix.
- the corner door once more securely closes / locks.
- permanent fix restoring operability of small leaf et al coming in the new
year.
Best,
David

Hi ian and sarah,
Sarah thank you so much for passing this message on. Ian, thank you so much
for alerting us, and to Sierk and Chicago for assessing this failure. I’m
not in town and no I hadn’t noticed this condition, which sounds quite
concerning.
I’ve just spoken with Bain, our locksmith - *he should be there by about
noon today to at least temporarily triage the situation while we assess a
more lasting fix. *
I’m not in town, but from the sound of it (and going from past experience
elsewhere), the work may or may not possibly involve temporarily disabling
the action of one of the double doors such as the inactive leaf, or
possibly, temporarily putting in a slide bolt in the floor for one leaf if
that is needed.
I’m not at all sure what temporary measures may be required, but to anyone
who may be using omni, I would ask that we all *please allow the locksmith
to pursue a temp fix as he best sees fit*. I have asked Bain to ensure that
whatever the fix is, that the card reader if at all possible remain
functional as a manifest consideration.
Should folks have questions or suggestions, if at all possible, folks
should first try to reach to me or Sarah prior to directly engaging with
Bain, mainly so he can focus on getting a fix committed as he’s doing this
on very short notice and with limited time over the holidays -
I’ll apprise everyone of what was fixed as soon as I hear back from Bain
probably in the afternoon sometime.
Best,
David

Hi, my name is David and I have been working with Lilu on repairing the
Laser at Sudo Room. I am a member at noisebridge and wanted to make clear
that while it is true that Lilu had a misunderstanding/disagreement with
two other members at noisebridge, this took place on an online chat when
she was both extremely low on sleep (i.e. perhaps not thinking totally
logically) and in mourning. It was also resolved in-person through a
follow-up conversation and successful mediation. There has never been a
"safe space" ask to leave for Lilu at noisebridge - there was simply a
disagreement/misunderstanding in an online chat that has since been
resolved.
Lilu has brought to my attention that she has been pursued and touched
inappropriately on two separate occasions by a male worker at the omni
commons who asked her "not to worry because he is divorced". After she
reported this Saturday she has become the target of harassment by a male
friend of the worker, who earlier in the same day (and together with the
worker) had tried to discount Lilu's accusation and to characterize the
interaction as "normal touch".
I think that it would be a mistake to use hearsay about a resolved
disagreement at another organization as reason to discount an allegation
about harassment/inappropriate touch and frankly what looks like an attempt
to bully her into not speaking out about it.
Thanks

Lovi was harassing Chicago (ANV, long time Omni Commoner) this afternoon
about something and Chicago asked that Lovi leave him alone. Lovi mentioned
wanting to call police on Chicago.
Lovi had previously harassed Habiba saying that she (Habiba of East Bay
Food Not Bombs) should not be in Omni Commons (Lovi did not know who Habiba
and kept harassing her asking for her ID)
Lovi had to leave Noisebridge previously when accusing a random person of
being a CIA agent and some other xenophobic conspiratorial ramblings
(emphasizing that the random person was foreign and not from here.)
I asked Lovi to leave and she ran up to the roof as she knows Mike the
roofer.
Is Lovi a Sudo Room member ?
