Vending machine feedback

The vending machine now provides some more feedback after money is put in. Source code associated with my contribution is here. I haven't documented the other components of the vending machine. https://thomaslevine.com/scm/sudo-vending Based on the implementation details, it appears to me that the bill acceptor is in fact plugged into one board (Arduino Leonardo) that is connected by serial to another board (Raspberry Pi). Why is the former board used at all? That is, why is the bill acceptor not plugged directly into the latter board?

Is upstairs "public" computer lab considered part of Sudo Room ?

Checking, as I think it was in 2015-2016, that area was considered part of Sudo Room ? It is super dirty and messy. Food and drink containers everywhere, along with personal belongings, and upstairs fridge also super full of random coffee cups. Was going to send pics but encourage Sudo Room folks to check it out for themselves. Dane

how to login to Sudoroom's stripe account?

I have the password and all that, but stripe is asking for a 2FA passcode being sent to...i don't know where. There is a sudoroom.org email address but i don't know how to access that. Does anyone know who has this access? Feel free to contact me directly. thank you, -jake

If we lose this insurance we have NO OTHER OPTIONS. California Fair Plan is the insurance of last resort. It's the government cheese of insurance. Nobody else will insure us, because of unfixed electrical hazards. Yesterday's work party was great, but it wasn't nearly enough. It took a team of people just to clear out the spaz corner. Now there's a bunch of stuff in the entrance hall and we don't know who it belongs to. PLEASE CHECK THE ENTRANCE HALL in the next few days for stuff you care about. We will probably do a dump run on Wednesday. We might throw away useful stuff, because I honestly didn't want to be the ringleader here and I don't have enough fucks to give. There are still so many corners of the building that look awful, are probably one spark away from being a giant bonfire, and I just can't deal with it all. I need help. I'm sounding all the alarms here. This is critical. When this is over we need to have a serious conversation about hoarding. Omni has too much stuff everywhere. It adds up a thousandfold. It gives shelter to mice. It makes things uncleanable. And most of it is not being actively used, it's just storage. We need to stop being storage! No more storage! Sure some of it may be useful. Maybe you can store one thing. But not ten things. We have to start making the tough choices here. The good news is, David Keenan just made us an amazing graphic of the things that still need to be fixed in the next 5 days. Attached!

Hi Sudoers, I am relatively new to the bay area as I only moved in after covid and have been quarantining like everyone else. I recently started looking for hackerspaces because I miss learning and experimenting with others. I heard that this particular hackerspace has not been meeting since covid and I wanted to see if y’all would be interested in kickstarting some more sessions! Best, Chase
