Vending machine feedback

The vending machine now provides some more feedback after money is put in. Source code associated with my contribution is here. I haven't documented the other components of the vending machine. https://thomaslevine.com/scm/sudo-vending Based on the implementation details, it appears to me that the bill acceptor is in fact plugged into one board (Arduino Leonardo) that is connected by serial to another board (Raspberry Pi). Why is the former board used at all? That is, why is the bill acceptor not plugged directly into the latter board?

waterjet cut steel?

we need a shop that can precisely and cleanly cut a panel of steel for something electrical in the building, using a waterjet or plasma or laser CNC setup. emphasis on clean and precise edges, it needs to look good. We can live with anywhere from 16gauge to 22gauge (1/16" to 1/32") but we'd like to get it done ASAP. can anyone recommend a shop? let me know -jake

Tablet security

Hello Sudo folks! Food not Bombs your neighborly collective at the Omni is looking to purchase a table/I-pad to better track food flow and inventory. The goal is to have the tablet installed on the main Fnb fridge downstairs but we also want to make it theft proof. Does anyone have advice on how to installed a locked tablet to a fridge ? Food donations

Sorry, I know this is the wrong list, but. I just finished working at the Berkeley food bank. They have a bumper crop of bread and strawberries to possibly drop off, if it makes sense, to do so. I don't have a car, otherwise I would drop off a small load to the fridge outside. Does anyone here know who I can reach out to for larger food donations?
