[omni-consensus] PROPOSAL: BIPOC and Oppressed Gender Safe Space Committee (BOGSS)

Dear Sudoroom, Today I voted in behalf of Sudoroom in favor of the MOP proposal, and they are now a member collective of Omni Commons. I emailed about them on April 20th but didn't hear anything back, so I hope everyone is okay with that decision. Other collectives are asking questions too, so if you want to be more engaged in the discussion, please join the [omni-consensus] list! But definitely make discussion here in the sudoroom list and get engaged. If Sudoroom members have concerns or objections, we need to communicate them promptly and work toward agreeable amedments. Vending machine feedback

The vending machine now provides some more feedback after money is put in. Source code associated with my contribution is here. I haven't documented the other components of the vending machine. https://thomaslevine.com/scm/sudo-vending Based on the implementation details, it appears to me that the bill acceptor is in fact plugged into one board (Arduino Leonardo) that is connected by serial to another board (Raspberry Pi). Why is the former board used at all? That is, why is the bill acceptor not plugged directly into the latter board?

Embroidery machine

Hi! I was at sudoroom a few months ago and saw that there was an embroidery machine (babylock ellageo esg2 i think) in the downstairs sewing lab. It was kind of disassembled at the time. Right to repair just passed in New York state!

The New York governor just signed a rate repair bill. It’s the first one, I think, and apparently the industry groups came down on her, super hard after the legislature passed it overwhelmingly. I'll be there tomorrow at about 10:30, if you or any of the FixIt folk want to join us. On a Related Front: Years ago I picked up some electronics that had been used to install solar hot water systems. Nice-looking old-style meters that I'd intended to install in our grandkids' treehouse to give it a second life as a space ship or submarine. They weren't interested and the stuff has been gathering dust in my shop. Does that sort of thing hold any interest for you? On a Related Front #2: Picked up many bolts of cloth from an upholstery shop cleaning its warehouse. Four or five of them didn't pass my wife's inspection. Would your sewing shop be interested?
