In the first Omni rat/mouse war, I found the most effective and humane
traps to be the (electrocuting) rat zappers. We bought one a long time ago,
good for about 60 zaps, but it disappeared so far as I know. A bulk order
of these, if affordable, would likely do wonders.
A good thing to do aside from traps would be to plug all holes in Omni
walls / floors / roof larger than a dime. Really, that small. This on the
advice of the plumber who conducts daily skirmishes with rats in the course
of his daily work. Rats also live in rat-caves under the foundation. Where
the foundation has holes or is exposed, should be sealed up.
Hunting for such orifices might be a good group task for the rat brigade.
Spray foam insulation + wiremesh to plug, or drywall & caulk.
Note that rats get up to the roof through the cypress trees, but we
shouldn't top them, or they get permanently out of wack.

While tremendous progress has been made, alas I saw a mouse or rat this
afternoon scurrying by the food area upstairs between the kitchenette and
the computer area..
Is anyone down to get a rat zapper and put it up there? I'm told this is
the most humane and efficient trap -
I also think the stuff piled around the phat beets / basement room area
could be cleaned up a bit more. I used to see critters down there a lot..
What's up with the stuff stored in that room, i.e. whose stuffs izzit?

Robb - do you still have the electronic rat trap that you were trying to
repair?
We should also still have two electronic mouse traps floating around
somewhere. I think one was last seen upstairs near the fridges; the other
may have been in the trash room.
The electric mouse traps were quite efficient to trap mice. For rats, I've
only seen the snap traps work. But that may have been because we had far
more of those.

yes, i have the trap but it's still not working.
some of the stuff in the old library room is "mine".
i pulled it out to deal with the resurgence of the mold
unfortunately, i haven't been able pick it up yet.
i expect to begin again within a week.

This reminds me that there is a rathole just to the right of the door going from the entry
hall into the CCL hallway. It's right down at floor level going into the wall.
