Peter and I want to host an event at sudoroom (and partially in the entrance
hall or ballroom/stage, since there will be a bunch of bikes and we'll need space)
where we will invite East Bay Bike Party facebook group members/instagram
followers to come and add LED lights to their bicycles.
The next EBBP ride is Friday September 9th in 8 days. I'm thinking this event
should be wednesday or thursday. We will need help from whoever's available!
I want to have a pre-event preparation day with volunteers from this list, to
go through the many LED supplies we have in sudoroom, and stuff we'll bring from
home, so that when the event happens, we have lights, batteries, and
switches/LED controllers labeled and ready to wire up and hot glue in place.
That pre-event preparation can be anytime people want to meet up, including
multiple days, so reply here if you're interested and available to meet up at
sudoroom Tomorrow, Saturday, Sunday, or Wednesday afternoon, to prepare for
this event. Don't worry if you aren't good with electronics, I'll show you
what we need to do!
Of course you'll be able to decorate your own bike too, but we want to focus on
hosting new people from the EBBP community so that they can learn about
sudoroom and the omni, and hopefully DONATE and join us.
So it's a community-building and expanding exercise. Who is available when?
Also if you have rolls of LED tape or LED christmas lights that you want to
donate, now's the time!

This sounds great! Thank you Jake for the initiative! I'm copying
Omni's events list so they are aware of this plan. It would be helpful
if the dates and times could be settled soon-ish since we are talking
about highly shared and multiuse spaces.
It would also be really helpful if Sudoers could use this opportunity
to help fix up the entrance hall. Currently there is still a large
pile of trash that nobody is sure what to do with, and a broken pew
that could use repair to make it safe to sit on again.
There will be a play rehearsal in the disco room on Wednesday and
Thursday nights from 6-10pm but they should be ok, we've had busy
events during their rehearsals before.

OK the event is set for Weds Sep 7 2022 from 5PM-11PM
We are going to meet tomorrow at 1pm (Sunday) in Sudoroom to prepare materials
so that Wednesday goes smoothly (in case anyone shows up)
Here is the text I sent to the East Bay Bike Party facebook group:
FREE: Light Up Your Ride for the Bike Party!
Wanna trick out your bike with LED lights for the Friday Sept. 9 ride?
Sudoroom Hackerspace (at Omni Commons) is having an LED lighting workshop in
time for the next Bike Party!
Bring your bike, your curiosity and your enthusiasm to Omni Common’s Bike
Mutation Station, and we’ll help you get your bike lighting super snazzy for
the ride: we’ve got helpers, workspace, soldering and hot glue, and surplus LED
tape and strings that we can help help you attach to your bike.
If you’re got spare LED light strings or tape, even broken ones or “scraps”, or
even just simple bike safety lights you want to fix or install, bring them to
the event to use or to share!
This is a family-friendly activity, biking families are heartily invited.
WHAT: Sudoroom’s Bike Mutation Station - Light Up Your Ride

our goal for this event is to pull lots more people into the Omni and sudoroom
