Apparently they only transfer video and picture files, and Emu is trying to
transfer .wav.
I'm trying to imagine the simplest dyi device. What about a pi zero or a pi
nano? I don't have any experience setting up wifi connectivity with a
microcontroller, but I'd like to learn. There also appears to be some
feather boards that do this. Is @Arthur Ulfeldt <arthur(a)ulfeldt.com> in the
chat? You've done this kind of stuff, right?

Hey Emu,
I did some searching, and here's what I found:

This guy describe solutions to backup an SD card without a computer. The
main one is a $90 product that I think does some of what you want,
although
I'm not sure.
The second option is something like this:
https://create.arduino.cc/projecthub/andreiflorian/back-up-sd-file-to-dropb…
It's a DIY solution that appears to do exactly what you want, although
the
main component looks like it's out of
production, and the main
replacement
is $55, which is kinda pricey before we even
consider making a case and
battery and such.
There are some other DIY possibilities, but before I dove into those I
came
across this:
https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MJYT2AM/A/lightning-to-sd-card-camera-re…
It's an iPhone-compatible SD card reader.
Would that work?
