I like that idea, Elaine. Allow me to add that ritual welcoming of new people to a community has many variations, but with common themes across thousands of cultures. It's unfortunate that we have a cultural norm of cynical suspicion masquerading as honest skepticism, and that it's unlikely those widespread customs of basic hospitality will make a comeback, but I can hope. I'm an advocate for more deliberate community relationship management with voluntary profiles with roles-based task sharing. I'd also like to see an easily searchable database of hardware assets as an inspirational springboard for projects.
